People don’t notice or often care about things that aren’t right in front of them. The war in Heaven was IN Heaven, and not something they were directly responsible for, so how could they know how serious something out of sight is? The Winchesters had a plenty to deal with on Earth as long as Heaven stayed in its corner, so it’s really not surprising at all they didn’t make it their problem. Heaven isn’t their jurisdiction and they were already overwhelmed on Earth.
That is true and Cas did try to keep them out of it for as much as he could. But he did try to explain that it was bad, but apart from little glimpses of compassion, they didn’t really listen to him or take Cas issues into consideration.
I mean even if it’s not their war and they aren’t involved in it, shouldn’t they at least care about Cas himself? (Or care about the potential danger of Apocalypse 2.0?) It’s not like they kept themselves from placing more troubles on Cas’ shoulders… And giving him hell when he wasn’t able to help or prioritized the battle in heaven.
I think I’m just still really hurt by Dean’s dismissal throughout the season. Sure, Dean was under a lot of stress and he was especially unwilling to listen to Cas’ explanations when he had just found out about Cas lying to them. Still… He was so mean. :C
I think with everything that happened, this was sort of the height of the Winchester selfishness. It was A LOT more than they signed up for, after all. But I totally agree. Dean was a downright dick. Castiel’s betrayal aside, Dean took his frustration out on him a lot before he even knew what the truth was, and he never handles this stuff well. It was too much.
None of that is an excuse to be a shithead to people he calls his family, but it was certainly in character.
And I also think that they DID care about Castiel, but a Heavenly war? Every time they saw that Castiel was still whole and fighting, they assumed he was okay because angels are the strongest beings they’ve ever encountered, and this is before they lose their wings, or Castiel loses his grace, so full understanding of how big and dangerous it is, is probably hard to process.
Still, I also found myself going, “what an ASSHOLE!” a lot to Dean that season.
And he still has to scrape the burned bits off the toast every so often 😀
No way, he makes PERFECT toast. Every time, without fail. And Dean has no idea how he manages it while still being unable to boil water without burning it. He suspects it may be Castiel’s useless super power.
I’ll buy that for a dollar!
Dean stares incredulously at the perfect toast. “You can burn a pot of water with the stove turned off!”
Castiel grins. “Yes, but the toaster and I have an understanding. Apple butter or grape jam?”
And then Dean immediately recoils because GRAPE JAM?? Why do we even keep this in the house? Where’s the strawberry? Cas, you can’t- no don’t- ugh grape jam is gross.
Castiel just scowls and promises to pointedly burn Dean’s toast next time.
Dean returns the glare and grabs the apple butter.
Castiel retaliates later that night while Dean’s making burgers. He sets out ketchup, mustard, and grape jam.
Sam thinks they’re both morons.
But he’s also not above them. He starts using the grape jam to prank Dean. Mixes it in his coffee when he’s not looking, puts it on his ham sandwich, shakes it into his beer.
Dean blames Castiel because the angel does know how to hold grudges.
Dean starts pranking Castiel by putting glitter literally everywhere and shouting, “CRAFT HERPES!” every time he hears Castiel yell with rage.
Sam doesn’t know how to stop it. He also doesn’t really want to. But it’ll definitely get out of hand.
He had plans for Cas too, but with the way Dean is acting, Sam doesn’t even have to bother.
Because the best pranks are ones you don’t even have to do yourself.
More new art! Star Trek piece titled, Beam Us Down, Scotty. By Sarah Wilkinson Acrylic galaxy painting, everything else is a pencil sketch, acrylic highlights, and digital colors.
This art by @winchester-reload is just amazing! Your art is always fabulous but this is just… wow. The little fic “Rule 28” written by @jupiterjames compliments it perfectly.
I saw this post by @astropixie about how it’d be nice to review fics on AO3 as you read. A little while back, because I was so in awe of the Clexa fic writers, I made this userscript (can install on Firefox by using Greasemonkey and on Chrome by using Tampermonkey) so that I could do just that. It doesn’t have the wattpad or soundcloud functionality, it’s just a little thing added on to a page, not something supported by the site itself, but it’s better than nothing.
