Kaidan may be a killjoy not letting Shepard shoot at everything, but he sure is cute.
*smooshes their stupid faces together*
“You gotta admit. This looks bad. I’d better not regret this.”
“You won’t.”
This is my favorite moment in the whole game. The last, lingering shreds of Kaidan’s doubt and the utter relief on Shepard’s face that they’re not just saying they’re good with each other anymore, they actually, finally, are again. It’s such a fantastic character scene. It’s got everything Kaidan and Shepard have been through thus far in the trilogy. Respect, caring, betrayal, distrust, frustration, relief, and back to trust. It’s so good.
Burn Down the Sky – Epilogue [AO3]
Okay, so, that’s it. Burn Down the Sky is officially over. First of all, I want to thank all of you for taking this year-long adventure with me. When ltleflrt first had the idea for a firefighter AU that she didn’t want to write, I jumped on it, first intending to write a oneshot, and then maybe a five chapter thing, and then it became 41 total chapters and more than 100K words. And during the process I fell so in love with my own creation. Every one of you who commented here and on Tumblr, liked and gave me kudos, and just stuck with the story, thank you. So much. This fic has been with me through a lot of ups and downs, and I hardly know what I’ll do with myself now that it’s truly over. It was a labor of love, and you were all kind enough to share it with me. I certainly hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Don’t make yourselves scarce, okay? I always welcome and appreciate comments. Thank you all, so much! I love you!
Or The Lack Thereof… [AO3]
Want a smutty mShenko oneshot? Of course you do! This is a birthday gift fic for the incredible ltleflrt! She requested a oneshot for her birthday based on her John Matthew Shepard, who I borrowed and made mute in an AU of her Feels Like Home fic.
Happy Birthday, ltleflrt! I love you!
Burn Down the Sky Ch. 40 [AO3]
And here is the final main chapter of my mShenko firefighter AU! There’s an epilogue left, but that’s it. I can’t even think of what I want to say right now, so I’ll do it later. There’s so much.
Ch. 40: An ending. And some beginnings.
As always, all of my works on AO3 are set to public, so you don’t need an account to view them.
mShenko Yoga Drabble
This is the fault of two people. One, Cullensbooty for asking how Ianto would react to Kaidan doing yoga. The second, is the creator of this amazing art of Kaidan doing yoga. It’s too much to handle. You have been warned.
How
long had it been since he’d slept a full night? Eaten a proper meal that wasn’t
a rehydrated quick-fix of nutrition? Exercised to keep himself ready and going?
Fuck, but he was tired.
"Commander?“
Shepard
paused raising his coffee mug to his lips wearily. "Traynor. Is whatever
you’re about to tell me or hand me on that datapad in any way necessary for the
next twelve hours of our survival?”
Samantha
eyed Ianto. The bags under his eyes and his dull gaze. “No, sir,” she
said wisely.
“Thank
you,” he answered, moving on to the shuttle bay. It’s silent at this time
of night, and he knew that he could kick back behind the storage crates for a
little while without being found. Even in his cabin he isn’t safe from
interruption. He just wanted a nap. A damn nap. He’s not sure where Kaidan had
got off to, but figured he was up in the cabin sleeping until his morning
shift, and Shepard was loath to go up there and disturb him with his tossing
and turning.
But
Kaidan wasn’t in their quarters. He was in the shuttle bay himself, lights low
and a mat set out in the center of the large room. What was he…? Ianto
stopped. Stared. Kaidan was wearing his blue Spectre sweats. The ones Ianto
loved. The ones that curved to his ass just so… he remembered to keep a tight
hand on his coffee before he dropped it.
The
biotic was shirtless, bless the gods, and bending and stretching in a way which
seemed impossible to Shepard. His face was calm and focused, and Shepard
watched, barely breathing as Kaidan spread his legs wide, bending his right
knee and sliding his left out straight. His arms were out in a perfect line
from his shoulders. He held the pose for several seconds before clenching his
fists, a spark of blue igniting along his fingers and leaving a trail as he
slowly raised his hands up over his head and pressed his palms together. His
biotics ricocheted down his arms, to his torso, to his legs and feet like some
gentle lightning. Shepard could feel them vibrating on the ground.
He
swallowed hard. Kaidan turned his eyes to the commander, ringed with blue and
never breaking eye contact as he carefully broke the pose, moving into pushup
position, then pressing against the ground before arching his torso up. Shepard
couldn’t have looked away if a thresher maw had come exploding out of the
elevator.
Then
Kaidan took pity on him, letting himself rest. He crawled to his knees and sat
cross-legged. Shepard took a few steps towards him.
“What
were you doing?” Shepard asked.
“Yoga,”
Kaidan answered quietly. “It’s an ancient practice. Calming. Helps me
meditate. I took it up after all of the… issues I had after Brain Camp.”
“Ah,”
Ianto answered because his brain had decided to jump ship ages ago.
“Everything
all right?” Kaidan asked.
“Yes
and no,” Shepard answered.
“How
so?” There’s a smile in Kaidan’s voice.
“Yes,
because I’m just tired and was looking to get away, and no, because I’m
suddenly really, really wanting to get you naked on that mat.”
Kaidan
grinned. “You first.”
Burn Down the Sky Ch. 39 [AO3]
To end your torture, here’s the next chapter of my firefighter AU. It’s really no more uplifting than the last. D: The good news is that there’s only one chapter and an epilogue left. Your suffering is almost over. 😀
Chapter 39: Dealing with the aftermath.
